Winter Weather Forces Cancellation of New Egypt Speedway’s April 9th Event; Star Wars and Autism Awareness to Highlight Saturday, April 16th Event

New Egypt, NJ – For the second week in a row Mother Nature will win out and force the cancellation of New Egypt Speedway’s Saturday, April 9th event. With below freezing temperatures and the chance of a mix of rain and snow, Speedway management had no choice but to call the event.

“We were hoping the weather would change in our favor, but unfortunately it is still calling for freezing temperatures and some kind of precipitation,” said General Manager Allyse Wolfinger. “We are looking forward to kicking off the 2016 regular season next Saturday, April 16th, with Star Wars Night sponsored by New Jersey Line X.”

Next Saturday’s Star Wars Night sponsored by New Jersey Line X will see the 358 Modifieds, Sportsman, NEWS Sprints, and Lyons Construction/Metal Fab Rookies in action. In addition to the Star Wars theme it will also be a rescheduled Autism Awareness Night as the entire month of April is Autism Awareness month. If you wear blue to the track in support of Autism Awareness $1 from your ticket will be donated to Autism Speaks and you will be entered to win one of two “Night at the Races” baskets valued at over $100. You can also purchase raffle tickets for additional baskets provided by Derek Krum with those proceeds also being donated to Autism Speaks. Derek will be signing autographs from 4-4:30 pm at the front grandstand entrance.

Star Wars night offers fans the chance to dress like their favorite Star Wars characters and receive FREE general admission. We will also be having a costume contest at Intermission will the three best costumes receiving a prize basket that includes the newly released Star Wars: The Force Awakens DVD. The first 100 fans through the front gates will receive a Star Wars candy filled character and throughout the night we will have Star Wars trivia for the chance to win the new Force Awakens DVD.
