New Egypt, NJ – Following much deliberation New Egypt Speedway has decided to cancel this Tuesday’s scheduled “Summer Sizzler” event. In light of the recent death of the speedway’s General Manager Joey Liquori, track management felt it best to cancel this show and focus on getting back to normal Saturday night operations first. Attempting to run such an important event just three days after re-opening, would prove difficult.
New Egypt will concentrate first on getting back on their feet with the regular weekly program. They will then look at the remainder of the season, as they focus on scheduling a tribute night to honor Mr. Liquori, and rescheduling the postponed Garden State Gunfight in honor of the legendary John Chemidlin.
Racing returns to New Egypt Speedway this Saturday, July 27th, as the mighty Modifieds will headline the event, joined by the touring MASS 305 Sprint Cars. They are joined on the program by the Crate 602 Sportsman, the NEWS wingless Sprint Cars, and the 4-cylinders. Grandstands open at 5pm, hot laps are at 6pm, and racing gets underway at 7pm.
