NEW EGYPT SPEEDWAY RULES UPDATE
New Egypt Speedway is updating the Modified weight rules following the conclusion of the 2025 regular season.
After much deliberation, the CT525 engines will now be required to weigh 2,250 lbs., up from the 2,200 lbs. that were required previously.
“The CT525 engines had great success this season,” track General Manager Mark Blackwell explained. “Both Ryan Godown and Johnny Bangs showed we have a competitive, affordable engine on our hands.”
With that said, our intention was never to make our traditional PA/NJ Spec 358 engines obsolete. We want to have two, competitive, equal motors, week in and week out.”
The 2,250 lbs. weight will go into effect immediately, beginning with the ‘Win & You’re In’ All-Star Cup Qualifier event on Saturday, September 13.
“The All-Star Cup is right around the corner,” VP of Operations Chris Moore stated. “We want to hit the mark in time for the All-Star Cup, so everyone who wants to come be apart of that big weekend knows they’ll have a chance to come win.”
Both track managers noted that if another adjustment is needed prior to the big weekend on Fri.-Sat., Sept. 26-27, it will be made.
Ryan Godown, powered by the CT525 engine for most of the second half of the season, won three races in the month of August, storming to a seventh career Modified Championship.
Johnny Bangs came up less than 10 laps short of his first career Modified win on August 23 with the CT525 engine. A parts failure in the front end diminished the handling on his race car, forcing him to settle for a fourth-place finish.
