(July 10, 2021):  Pat Wall won for the first time since May 1st as he captured the fifth annual 40 lap Mr. Crate Classic at New Egypt Speedway. Wall also completed the non-stop 40 lap event in a record time of 12:30.

Protinick and Wall brought the field to the start of the extra distance event with Protinicj grabbing the early advantage. Wall chased after him but Protinick was hooked up and had every one covered thru the opening laps. Sixth starter Anthony Tramontana quickly moved into third and methodically ran down the front running duo challenging Wall for second by lap 12. As Wall and Tramontana battled they quickly closed in on the leader and the fans suddenly had a three car battle for the lead to watch. Tramontana grabbed second from Wall and almost got by Protinick with the same move, when suddenly Wall came back by both of them for the lead. Lapped traffic began to come into play as Tramontana finally slipped by Protinick and went back after Wall.  STSS Crate winner Johnny Bangs and the winner of the race the last 2 years Ryan Simmons now entered the top five and were battling for fourth half of a straightaway behind the leaders. At the front Wall held off the persistent Tramontana thru lapped traffic to post his 4th win of the season. Tramontana was a close second with Bangs grabbing third in the closing laps.  Protinick finished his great run in fourth followed by Simmons.  5-time winner Justin Grosso, Tom Princiotta, Ryan Heim, Will Dupree and Jon Meyer completed the top ten,

Pauch Jr. “Schools” the competition on Graduation Night at New Egypt

(June 26, 2021):  Billy Pauch Jr. won for the second time this week at New Egypt Speedway as he captured the Graduation Night 30 lap event.  Pauch Jr. took the lead from Cale Ross on lap 17, and then held off 2018 track champ David Van Horn to win his 33rd career Modified feature at NES.

NES

“My crew works very hard to give me a fast car every night, and this car has been really hooked up the past week,” complimented Pauch in the winner’s circle, “My hats off to the track crew, they have been working very hard on the surface here and it is better each week.”

Pauch worked his way to the front from his 14th starting position during the first 10 laps of the race and then chased Cale Ross for the lead. On lap 17 he powered by a quick Ross and took control of the 30 lap event that he would never relinquish.  David Van Horn continues to get faster every week, coming home second, chased by point leader Mike Gular who again finished third for the 3rd straight Saturday night event.  Ross held on for fourth and Brandon Grosso rounded out the top 5.

Adam Buchel was crowned the Lyons Construction/MetalFAb Pro Race Shop Rookie champ for 2021, as he won his fifth feature of the season to clinch the title.  Ricky Moran had his best finish of the season coming home second in the 12 lap affair, followed by Tommy Klimkowski third.

Billy Pauch Jr. is “Quickest Gun” at New Egypt’s Garden State Gunfight 4

(June 23, 2021):  Billy Pauch Jr. took top honors Wednesday evening in the fourth annual Garden State Gunfight presented by Creston Hydraulics. Pauch Jr., who waged a crowd pleasing duel for almost 20 laps with 4-time NES champ Ryan Godown, grabbed the lead right at the halfway point of the 60 lap main event and went on to score his 3rd victory at NES in 2021.

b2

“Ryan (Godown) and I had a great battle there for the fans,” exclaimed Pauch Jr. in victory lane, “We raced very close on all grooves of the track for many laps, and never touched once.  That was a lot of fun!”

Matt Stangle and DJ Hunt would bring the field to the start of the 60 lap event with Stangle putting his Danny Sommeling Motorsports #51 into the early lead.  Stangle was fast in his new ride and opened up a nice lead as Wade Hendrickson, Danny Bouc and John McClelland battled with Hunt for the second position.  It did not take long for 7th starter Ryan Godown to quickly move into the mix, and soon he won the battle for second and set his sights on the Stangle. As he ran down the leader, Pauch Jr., who started 11th, was quickly on his heels as a caution flag reset the field.  The restart saw Stangle fight hard to hold on to the lead, but Godown finally wore him down and got around him to take the lead, bringing a very fast Pauch Jr. with him. PAuch Jr. quickly caught Godown, but then could only match the speed of Godown, as they both raised their game and put on a crowd pleasing side by side battle each lap and thru several restarts.  David Van Horn, who had fallen back early in the event, had now moved to third after battling with Stangle and was looking to make it a three car race. Godown and Pauch Jr. battled side by side thru turns lap after lap with Godown’s momentum taking back out front each lap. The two swapped grooves as well a couple times, and finally, as the crossed flags were being displayed to the duo, Pauch roared into the lead.  At this point, point leader Mike Gular was in 4th and really working well in the bottom groove, despite a broken sail panel that had been dangling since lap 5.  Gular continued to move up until he was second, and would challenge Pauch on the last two restarts only to watch him pull away each time.  Pauch Jr. would win the event by 1.795 seconds over Gular to score the 32nd Modified win of his career at NES.  Godown came on strong again during the closing laps but settled for third, chased by Van Horn and Stangle.  Sixth thru tenth went to Bouc, Hendrickson, Rick Laubach, Brandon Grosso and first year Modified competitor DJ Hunt.

Justin Grosso Sweeps Away the Competition at New Egypt Speedway

June 12, 2021):  Justin Grosso of Belle Mead, NJ continued his recent dominance at New Egypt Speedway, as he won both the Sportsman and the Racersguide.com Crate Modified features on Saturday evening.  Grosso led wire to wire in the 20 lap non-stop feature event for the Crates, then drove from the eighth starting position to the lead in 10 laps and went on to capture the Sportsman 20 lap event, which was not slowed by caution until 3 laps remained. It was Grosso’s first ever Open Sportsman triumph, whereas it was his 4th straight Crate Modified victory at the central Jersey speedway.

Grosso combined skill and luck for his Crate Modified victory, as he drew the pole for the feature event and took full advantage of it for his 4th straight win. Grosso sliced thru lapped traffic masterfully in the non-stop race, as Ryan Simmons was the only car that could keep pace with Grosso’s family owned j24, settling for a well deserved second place finish. Pat Wall, Johnny Bangs and Anthony Tramontana rounded out the top five in a rare sweep of the top five spots by the top five in points!

Rick Laubach Has Fast Hot Rod, Wins First of 2021 at New Egypt Speedway

(June 5, 2021):  Rick Laubach of Hellertown, PA took top honors Saturday night in the 30 lap Vahlco Wheels Modified main event on Rat Rod/Hot Rod Night at NES. The two time champ took full advantage of his front row starting spot to lead all 30 laps of the feature, the final 25 being run non-stop. It was the 17th win of his career at NES, his first in almost 5 years.

winners

“A lot of people have asked me why I came back to run here (NES) because the competition is so tough, there are 6 STSS winners that compete here regularly!” stated Laubach in the winner’s circle, “My answer is because I enjoy running here, It’s a great track to pass on and you can be proud when you are standing here at the end of the night.”

Laubach, after a forgettable last three weeks, started on the pole for the 30 lap event and brought the field to the start.  After a couple yellows in the opening five laps, including one on the initial start, the race would get going and would not be stopped again.  Laubach jumped out in front and quickly stretched his lead to a full straightaway by the halfway mark. Back in the pack, Billy Pauch Jr who won the last event here on May 15, and Mike Gular, also a winner in April, were storming to the front. Gular made a great move to get by Pauch and Mike Butler to move into second only to see Pauch Jr. return the favor with ten to go. The final 8 laps saw Laubach move into and thru heavy lapped traffic bring Pauch Jr. closer, but Laubach masterfully handled the back markers and cruised to his first win since 2016 at New Egypt. Pauch Jr. settled for the runner-up spot, and Gular came home third and by virtue of this take’s over the division point lead. Mike Butler held on for his second 4th place finish this year, and Bryan Kuhl grabbed fifth from Jim Housworth on the final lap to complete the top five.

Tom Princiotta, of Columbus, NJ, broke thru for his first ever victory in the Sportsman 20 lap main event.  Since he started running these cars in 2015, Princiotta has been very close on numerous occasions, but had never cracked the win column. That all changed on Saturday night as he used his Brandon Solarski Racing #32 Crate to dominate the second half of the race. After a good battle with Paul Mancini during the first half, he pulled away to a big lead in the second half only to have a late race yellow bring the field back to him.  However, on this evening he would not be denied, as he once again pulled away from all competitors to post the very popular victory.  Two time winner Anthony Tramontana came home a distant second, followed by Ryan Heim third, Ryan Simmons fourth and Justin Grosso fifth.

Grosso Captures First of the Season at New Egypt Speedway

(May 1, 2021):  Brandon Grosso of Belle Mead, NJ won the 40 lap Vahlco Wheels Modified feature event at New Egypt Speedway Saturday night. Grosso took the lead from Brian Papiez then had to out run previous race winner Mike Gular to the checkered of the extra distance affair on Little League Night.

Kevin Vaclavicek and John McClelland led the field at the start of Saturday night’s 40 lapper as Brian Papiez gave chase.  These three put on a spirited battle for the top spot in the opening laps as Papiez tried to no avail to sneak by Vaclavicek. Finally Papiez found a groove to get by on lap 8 and took command, and once in front he began to open up on the field.  Once in front Papiez appeared to be the fastest car on the track as he ran away from the field until a yellow on lap 14 closed everyone back up.  The restart saw Papiez continue to control things as he powered away from the pack as Brandon Grosso and Mike Gular moved into second and third. As the race passed halfway no one seemed to have anything for Papiez until a restart on lap 26. Grosso used this opportunity to get under Papiez and grab the lead with Gular following suit.  Gular stayed with Grosso, getting under him several times. With 5 laps remaining Grosso began to slowly open up some breathing room, and despite a final caution on lap 38, went on to post his sixth career Modified victory.  Gular, winner last time out, settled for second with opening night winner Dominick Buffalino coming home third.  Wade Hendrickson and Billy Osmun rounded out the top five. With the win Grosso takes over the championship point lead as point leader Billy Pauch Jr. did not make the call for the feature due to an electrical problem in the #96.

Brandon Grosso

The Larry’s Hot Rods and Harley’s Northeast Wingless Sprint Cars 20 lap feature event was won by Brad Schaale, as he became the fourth different NEWS Sprint winner in four races. Mick D’Agostino took over the point lead with his runner-up finish, followed by Rich Mellor, Brian Spencer and Heidi Hedin.

The Racersguide.com Crate Modified 20 lap feature was won for the third time by Pat Wall, making him 3 for 4.  Justin Grosso, trying to make it a brother sweep, had to settle for second with his best run so far of 2021 in the Crates. Johnny Bangs raced home third chased by Joe Nappi and Nick Van Wickle.

Gular Conquers New Egypt Speedway in Just Three Weeks

(April 17, 2021):  In just his third start as a NES regular, Mike Gular of Boyertown, PA won his first ever Vahlco Wheels Modified feature event at New Egypt Speedway Saturday night. Gular, who also won his heat, made it a clean sweep of the evening when he passed Brandon Grosso in the latter stages of the 30 lap event and went on to claim the victory.

 174241648 1936221536529663 7176109765621217826 n

“We decided to run New Egypt this year because we like new challenges”, stated Gular to track announcer Nick Leach, “Terry (Fasnacht) gives us great equipment and I am happy we were able to break thru so quickly.”

Frank Venezia & Kory Fleming brought the 26 car field to the start with Fleming assuming command. Fleming opened up a comfortable lead in the early going with PJ Oliver and John McClelland battling with Venezia for second. Tenth starter Brandon Grosso was the fastest car in the early going as he wasted no time slicing his way into the top five and quickly began to pick off cars each lap. By lap 6 he had taken over second and quickly reeled in the speedy Fleming, with Fleming leading the duo away from the pack. Meanwhile Gular was getting faster as he took over third from Oliver but found himself more than half a straightaway behind the two leaders. However it only took Gular 5 laps to run them down and make it a three car race for the lead. Grosso, feeling the pressure from Gular, finally made a move past Fleming, and Gular followed him by the next time around. It was now a crowd pleaser as Gular looked for a way by with Grosso holding him off at every turn. Gular finally found the line he was looking for flying around Grosso for the lead.  With just five laps remaining heavy lapped traffic loomed just ahead of Gular, and as he approached it the following lap, two of those cars tangled directly in front him.  Gular took quick evasive action darting out to the fence in turn four and barely missing the incident thus retaining his lead as the yellow lights flashed on for the final time.  This final restart gave Grosso renewed hope, but Gular proved to be too much to handle on this night as he went on to win by 1.9 seconds. Grosso, who has been fast in every event so far this season, settled for a hard earned second. First heat winner PJ Oliver finally put things together to come home third, chased by last week’s winner Billy Pauch Jr. and early leader Fleming, placing all three heat winners in the top five at the finish.

NEW EGYPT, NJ - 2020 New Egypt Speedway Vahlco Wheels Modified champion Danny Bouc took the lead from Ryan Krachun on lap 77 and sped off into the Central Jersey night picking up the win in the All Star Cup 100 worth $10,000. On Friday afternoon Bouc was unsure he would even be able to make it to the track on Saturday night after suffering trailer problems that kept him on the sidelines on Friday night. Bouc was able to borrow an open trailer for Saturday and as the saying goes, the rest is history.

Brandon Grosso redrew the pole position for the 100 lap Modified main event, however the first yellow flag of the event would fly less than a lap in when Dakota Kessler was facing the wrong way in between turns one and two.
